Portadown owes its current reputation as one of the Province's most thriving shopping centres to its roots as a Market Town dating back to the 19 th Century. Today, the market character has developed into commercial retailing, with the weekly market now housed in the Millennium Court complex on William Street, which still provides the "fair day" atmosphere each Friday and Saturday.
