Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) is investing £600,000 in Portadown and Lurgan to improve the local water and sewerage infrastructure. The work, which includes replacing up to 3000m of water mains and sewer assets, will be completed by Farrans Utilities. The aim of this investment by NI Water is to try to significantly reduce the level of repairs or maintenance required to their infrastructure following the completion of Public Realm works which are due to be carried out later in the year.
Gavin McGinty, Project Manager NI Water said:
"Preliminary work is already underway and it is anticipated full works will commence in Portadown towards the end of July and in Lurgan, at the end of September.
"NI Water will be dividing the workload between day and night-time in an effort to minismise disruption to local businesses and the public. The scale of the project means that some roads/lanes will be closed while the work is carried out. However we are working closely with Roads Service and town centre management authorities to ensure those afftected are kept well informed of the work schedule".
